I was looking on Lil Luna's blog & saw her post about GAK & Halloween playdough. Well that got my little wheels to turning & I had to figure out how to make something cute for my son's class with stuff I could find in Germany. German's don't generally celebrate Halloween, so finding Halloween stuff is hard to darn near impossible. Fast forward a bit, my son loves my Cricut & I fear the thing since I don't really know how to use it properly. So while I was trying to find treat bags for the class treats, we passed the Cricut items & my son started his chant, "cut the paper, cut the paper." So I went on the hunt for Halloween scrapbook paper & came up with nada, nothing, zilch. So I came home & searched high & low for Cricut crafts for Halloween. I found Eleanor's blog with this cute .svg file for a treat bag & best of all it was FREE! This was so easy & simple to put together that my son even helped. I resized the image in SCAL so that it completely took up a 12 x 12 sheet of plain white cardstock. Then I took some scraps of yellow construction paper & glued it behind the ghosts eyes & mouths before assembling the bags. For the window, I just cut page protectors to fit in the space. Using double sided tape, I put the bags together & then filled with treats. My son & I made Halloween colored playdough from a recipe I've used with my daycare kids in the past & used that to fill most of the space in the bag & then added a few pieces of candy for that Halloween spirit.
I loved hers & thought this would be a very easy first project for my Cricut. Since I live in Germany, I usually have to buy most of my supplies on the economy (German stores) in euros. My German is very minimal, so it's often challenging trying to find what I need in German or finding someone who knows what I'm talking about. I wanted to get this done quickly & not have to order anything online & wait for shipping.

Supplies & cost:

canvas- 3.95 euros (about $4.50 at the time)

DecoArt black acrylic paint- already had

Americana jack-o'-lantern orange- already had

white contact paper $2.95

orange sheer ribbon 2.95 euros (about $3.50)

I pretty much followed what Jen did & copied her words & placement since this was my first time doing anything like this & I wanted it to be super easy. I had fun trying out my cricut & definitely learned some things about it. I used contact paper because it was cheap & what I could get my hands on fastest. Well here it is sitting in my bathroom window before I placed it in the stairwell outside my front door. Don't hate on my military tile & privacy window glass. :0)

Shellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17676322647313773757noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2787481221275397570.post-34018429824085392792010-09-29T23:25:00.002+02:002010-09-29T23:29:34.424+02:00New DirectionI'll be going in a new direction with my long neglected lil bloggy.
